Access Training has become very popular in the past number of months as more and more people are beginning to realise the value and practical benefit Access can bring. I’ve recently had a client who needed Access Training as they needed to develop reports based on the data they had inputted into Excel. Previously they were copying the data from Excel into Word and formatting it in there where after the training, they can do the whole lot using Access.
We imported all the data in Excel into Access and were able to produce queries and develop reports based on those queries then. It was much more efficient and has saved them a considerably amount of time.

Office 2007 has been with us for a while now but its only the last 12 months have I noticed a real upturn in demand for courses with the new version of Office. It appears some people have been wary of transferring over primarily because of the Ribbon that Microsoft have instead of their older version with the menu bar at the top. Coming from the older version makes the transfer that little bit more difficult as you are use to where all the buttons and menus were but now you have to learn it all over again and it does take time.
While Excel is still the most popular course we are finding an increase in demand for Access and PowerPoint in recent months. Microsoft have released the new version of Office this year and they are continuing with the Ribbon toolbars so they are not going to go back to the old version and people will have to upgrade their skills.

Recently, I’ve had more requests from people interested in training to develop their own website. In most cases these clients have developed a very simple website in FrontPage with a couple of pages and then want to take it further. They also feel that because they have invested their own time and effort into developing the website they are reluctant to hand over the entire design to a web designer. There are a number of benefits in getting customised training in web design for your website.

If you are attending a course and in particular if its a one on one training session, then it is well worth your while to enquire about a customised course. Speak to the trainer and inform them the areas that you would like to examine. Recently I gave a course in Word and they needed to look at mail merge in particular. So we customised the course specifically towards mail merge while including some other areas that they thought would be relevant. This allowed them to get the most benefit from the training and they got some work carried out for them at the same time. If possible the trainer will find it hugely beneficial if they can see an example of the files that you work with as it will give them an idea of what you are using.
One on One training sessions are very intensive by their nature but most people find them of enormous benefit as they get training tailored to their exact requirements.
